The Hwa Chong Military Band has achieved commendable results in both indoor and outdoor SYFs since its formation in 1967. Over the years, the band has garnered a considerable number of awards. SYF Assessment of Marching Bands - Certificate of Central Judging of Bands - Gold with Honours (2009) Gold (2011) Distinction (2013,2015,2017,2019)

 

Hwa Chong Band plays a vital role in our school, being the only school Band in Singapore that performs the National Anthem and School Song at Flag Raising every day. The band also performs for major events in the school calendar such as National Day.

 

Spearheaded by our team of music directors, Mr Darence Leng, Mr Daniel Kiang and Mr Desmond Chow, as well as our teachers-in-charge Mdm Chan Hwee Sing, Ms Fang Yu Ching and Ms Tong Bee Yen, Hwa Chong Band’s music education programme has developed a curriculum with the mission to provide students with ample performance opportunities, from formal concerts with more challenging and serious music, to more casual outreach performances.
