Chinese Orchestra

Established in 1985, the Hwa Chong Institution Chinese Orchestra is an esteemed Chinese orchestra in Singapore, rich in history and culture. He orchestra has been unwavering in its aim of spreading the passion for Chinese music and culture, as evident from its various splendid achievements it has gathered over the years. In addition, HCICO has constantly performed in numerous events, most recently at the recent HC100 Gala Dinner.

 

The orchestra has been obtaining the highest award of Distinction in the Singapore Youth Festival for many years and also received the best CCA award for aesthetic groups in 2016. Furthermore, the orchestra has been honoured with the opportunity to perform in other countries such as China, Australia and Malaysia. Such honours were made possible only because the orchestra engages renowned and proficient musicians to tutor the students in their respective instruments.


The orchestra continues to aim to enrich the cultural scene by exposing students to the various musical traditions of the world; of course, not forgetting the fun interactions with top-notch schools, bonding sessions with music, concerts, and much more.

To add on, the orchestra is always aspiring to reach greater heights by exploring different types of music. As such, the orchestra plays a plethora of music genres, ranging from modern songs to Japanese music.
